Appointments Board
Mandate
The Appointments Board derives its mandate from the University and other Tertiary institutions’ Act 2001 as amended. It is responsible for the appointment, promotion, removal from service, and discipline of all officers and staff of the academic and administrative staff at Busitema University. The Board is mandated to ensure that appointments are made based on merit, equity, and diversity. as determined by the University Council
The Board may invite technical experts to provide advice and guidance to ensure that informed decisions are made in the best interests of the university.

Roles
The main roles of the Appointments Board include the following:
- Developing policies and guidelines for staff appointments and promotions
- Advertising job vacancies, shortlisting candidates, and conducting interviews
- Conducting background checks, reference checks, and verifying academic credentials of candidates
- Making recommendations to the University Council on staff appointments and promotions
- Ensuring that the appointments process is transparent, fair, and free from any form of discrimination
Compostion
The Appointments Board comprises of 10 members, including:
- The Vice-Chancellor (Chairperson)
- Two Deputy Vice-Chancellors
- The University Secretary (Secretary to the Board)
- One Dean of Faculty
- Two members of the University Senate
- Two representatives of the academic staff
